Blockchange – How Science Revolutionizes Democracy, Work and Nature Using Blockchain

Blockchain technology changes more than the financial industry. Scientists have proposed revolutionary concepts for managing our democracy, forests and other natural systems as well as the way we work. Discussing potential benefits and risks, Thomas Wagenknecht introduces “Futarchy” and similar DAO governance models to change political systems, “terra0” which proposes a self-owned augmented forest and a concept to compensate founders and employees.

Disrupting Organizations: Decentralized Autonomous Organizations on the Blockchain

Blockchain is the driving force of the next generation Internet, also referred to as the Decentralized Web. It allows us to decentralise trust. Smart contracts on the Blockchain radically reducing transaction costs creating the basis for a P2P society, allowing for new forms of organisational structures that were not feasible before. What is the state of that technology and what are the pitfalls and challenges of Blockchain based DAOs (Decentralized Autonomous Organizations)?

How much is the fish, for cod’s sake?

“Fishy” technology to stop overfishing: This session will address the problem of overfishing, its causes and possible solutions. In order to maintain healthy marine ecosystems, we need to be informed and keep our governments accountable over their decisions that concern the environment and our future.

Autonomous, Distributed, Collective – Use Cases for the Blockchain beyond Fintech

What are use cases for the blockchain beyond digital currencies? Land rights ledgers, anti-corruption tools, smart contracts…There are many possibilities, and as GIG we want to explore a few of them from all over the globe. We want to discuss critical questions, but also the potential that the blockchain has for collective yet distributed actions, like co-creation and co-manufacturing.

Technology framework for a new Mobility Economy

The electric robot cars are coming! Rapid developments in technology will require a new framework for connected mobility. How can we build it, and what might it enable? Will electric vehicles transform the way society generates and stores energy? Will Blockchain keep our money and our data secure? Will industries be forced to collaborate in the open by tough regulations, or will it be a race to build the biggest walled garden? Jens Stoewhase (Intellicar) moderates a panel of experts from the automotive industry discussing what emerging technologies and trends in mobility could mean for our futures.
